If I gave you a report of your grade in our class, you have until Monday 5/20 to get your work done. You must have that form signed by a parent and all of your work must be attached to it and turned in before class starts on 5/20 – no exceptions! It’s your last chance to get these assignments in!
This is not a rumor – there is an attempt to “phase out” Latin at Somerset Academy.
In order to prevent this, we need your help. We need you to please write in “Latin I” in your subject selection form! Please show your support and let everyone know that you are PROUD to take Latin at Somerset Academy!
Also, share with others! Tell your friends to write in Latin I for their subject selection! You will be able to get high school credit while in Middle School! Tell your parents, too!
Winter break is right around the corner! So, in order to get things wound down before we break, I wanted to announce ahead of time what is coming. We are going to be having a quiz on December 7th for Stage 5 which means the test will be following shortly thereafter on December 13th – which will be multiple choice and consist of 45 questions!
Then, to wrap up, we will have our Saturnalia party on December 15th! So be sure not to miss that as that is the last day we will meet for class for 2011! (Or MMXI)
Remember, we are going to be having our test for Stage 2 coming up soon – next week on Thursday, 10/13. So, start studying over the work we have been working on in class!
Remember to bring food for the party tomorrow as tomorrow is our Saturnalia party! We will also finish watching Jason and the Argonauts! See you all tomorrow!

We would like to recognize a special achievement of one of our Latin students – Ashlyn White. She competes in tournaments all over the world for her sport, Judo, and she recently won a gold medal at the Pan American championships in the youth competition in Panama! Congratulations, Ashlyn!
Got exciting news! Our brand new textbooks just arrived! They are a different set of books that we are introducing into the Latin program at Somerset. These books are published by Cambridge University and will not only help you learn Latin, but give you a strong sense of the Roman culture, too! Can’t wait to dive in!
